Sierra Leone Summit: Participants

Melissa Bentley is a graduate student at American University studying International Politics and Human Rights with a self-designed specialization in Youth and Children. She is interested in serving as a youth advocate in Africa.
Isaac Bolger is a senior at the George Washington University studying History and French Language & Literature. He is a very active leader in AIESEC, the world's largest student organization.
Monica Dedich graduated in 2005 from Northwestern University with a dual degree in International Studies and Theater. A Swiss citizen, she speaks 7 languages and hopes to pursue a career in diplomacy.
Cristelle Gilmore is a senior at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock studying Sociology and American Humanics. She hopes to start her own non-profit to empower young women from disadvantaged communities.
Daniel Henry is a Program Director for Michawana Youth Camp in Michigan. He hopes to return to Sierra Leone in the fall of 2007 to study Linguistics at Fourah Bay College in Freetown.
Aisha Huisar is a sophomore at Chicago State University studying Education. She hopes to pursue a career as a math teacher and mentor for middle school youth.
Christopher Murphy is a sophomore at Georgetown University studying Economics. He's a leader in the Student Movement for Real Change, which empowers students to engage in development projects worldwide.
Michael Post is a junior at the University of Colorado, Boulder studying Integrative Physiology. He hopes to work abroad in developing regions after completing medical school.
Alyssa Pregulman is a freshman at the George Washington University studying International Development & Anthropology. She is committed to community service and philanthropy both at home and abroad.
Quinn Rallins is a junior at Morehouse College studying International Studies, Economics and Spanish. He is a very accomplished student leader, and hopes to someday become an Ambassador to the UN.
Daniel Rogers is a junior at American University studying International Relations and Economics. He spent 5 years serving in the military, including 1 in Iraq. He hopes to pursue a career in poverty alleviation and development.
Caitlyn Scherer is a junior at the George Washington University studying International Affairs and Anthropology. She hopes to study environmental law and work to promote alternative energy in Africa.
Javier Sethness is a senior at Georgetown University pursuing degrees in International Development and Comparative Studies: Russia and Africa. He is actively engaged in promoting social justice worldwide.


Sierra Leone Summit: Staff

Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai is a student, activist, and leader at Fourah Bay College. He is the Founder and Director of the Society for Democratic Initiatives and champion of human and civil rights in Sierra Leone and abroad.
Harry Gbetuwa was a journalist in the early post-war period and began the Voice of Children Radio under the UN's peacekeeping mission (UNAMSIL). Prior to that he co-founded a forum for youth affected by the civil war.
Lyndon Baines Johnson graduated from Fourah Bay College, where he now teaches in the departments of History and African Studies. He works with the Society for Democratic Initiatives as an advocate and activist.
David Post is a PhD candidate in International Affairs and a MA student in Security Studies at Georgetown University. His academic work focuses on development, state-building, and US foreign policy.
Carrie Stefansky graduated in 2006 from the George Washington University with a BA in International Affairs and a deep interest in Africa. She helps to coordinate GYPA's domestic and international programs.
Meredith Street is a senior at the George Washington University studying International Affairs and Political Science. Next fall she will begin a Teach for America fellowship in Atlanta, GA.
